The Role of Computer Vision in Personal Grooming

For decades, haircuts have relied on two things: a mirror and a steady hand. But what if your mirror could guide your hand? With the release of CutCam, we are exploring the frontier where Computer Vision meets personal grooming.

Seeing What You Can't

The hardest part of a DIY haircut is the back of your head. Mirrors reverse your movements, and holding a phone while cutting is awkward. CutCam solves this by using real-time object detection to identify the user's head position, ear placement, and hairline.

The Tech Stack

Under the hood, CutCam isn't just recording video. It uses on-device Machine Learning models (TensorFlow Lite) to map a 3D mesh of the user's head. By analyzing this mesh, the app can overlay dynamic AR guides that show exactly where to stop the clippers, ensuring a perfect fade every time.

Privacy by Design

Because grooming is personal, CutCam processes everything locally. No video feed ever leaves your device. This commitment to edge computing ensures that your privacy is preserved while still benefiting from powerful AI assistance.
